Who, Dammit, Who!
If you’ve never seen Poltergeist III before, you’re not missing anything that you can’t get in this 5 minute digest version, composed entirely of characters calling other characters’ names. Of a 98:00 film, I collected five whole minutes’ worth of name-calling. It almost becomes hypnotic after a while–I can only imagine the effect it might have on any audience members named Carol Anne. I think it’s safe to assume, though, that there aren’t too many Tanginas in the crowd.

This is pretty hilarious. The five minutes of name-calling is indeed all I need to know about the source film. Holy interpellations Louis Althusser! Structurally it reminds me of the various edits of G.W. Bush’s speeches sorted by key words or terms most often used… (evil, weapons, terror etc.) Might be interesting to sort and order from least used name to most used, but perhaps that’s getting too algorhythmic. Preserving the feel of a narrative / chronological relation keeps it from seeming too arbitrary and produces the effect of moving through key moments of the so-called story arc (even if that’s not the case).
